Nigerian singer and the second half of defunct music group, Peter Okoye has written a heartfelt note to his younger self.
In an interview with Cool FM, he stated that if he could reach out to his younger self, he would tell himself not to trust people too much, believe in himself, and remember that nobody loves it when he loves himself first.
He added that family is blood-related, but real family is loyalty.
“Dear young Peter,
Don’t trust too much,
Believe in yourself
Remember, nobody loves you when you love yourself,
Family is blood-related; real family is loyalty”.
Two months back, Peter threw a subtle shade at his family as he sent a message to the general public, stating that one shouldn’t allow family to be the reason they’re drowning in silence. He noted how he did for over 20 years, and it cost me everything. Peter noted how love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family doesn’t steal from you.
Recall that in 2023, Psquare had fallen out again because of the joint funds being diverted by their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
In an interview, Paul recounted how Peter got him and their older brother, Jude Okoye, arrested by EFCC in December 2023. Luckily for him, after a thorough investigation conducted by the commission, he was declared innocent of all the allegations levelled against him.
Peter, however, denied Paul’s claims of arresting him. He noted how Paul, rather than joining forces with him to reclaim their number one spot in the music industry, chose to team up with their elder brother, Jude, to marginalise and humiliate him.
