Vice Principal Allegedly Assaulted After Seizing Student’s Phone During WASSCE in Ondo

At Complete Child Development College, thugs allegedly assaulted Vice Principal Rotifa for preventing a student from malpractice during the WASSCE exam.

The Ondo State Ministry of Education has reported that an attack was triggered by a parent’s outrage after her child was caught using an android phone during an exam.

A shocking incident has been reported at Complete Child Development College in Aule, Akure, Ondo State, where the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Rotifa, was allegedly assaulted by suspected thugs after he stopped a student from cheating during the ongoing WASSCE (West African Senior School Certificate Examination).

According to findings by the Ondo State Ministry of Education, the trouble began on May 26, when Mr. Rotifa confiscated an Android phone from an SS3 student who was caught with the device during the examination, a clear violation of the school’s rules.

Days later, the student’s mother visited the school and confronted management, demanding the phone be returned. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, the school’s proprietor eventually complied.

However, things took a dark turn when the student’s brother, a former student, returned to the premises, threatening Mr. Rotifa. Later that day, after school hours, a group of young men believed to be connected to the family were seen loitering around.

Fearing for his safety, Mr. Rotifa reported the threats to the police. Two officers escorted him in a patrol van to search for the suspects, but they were unable to locate them. Shockingly, on their way back, the group ambushed the police vehicle, dragged out the Vice Principal, and beat him up.

Mr. Rotifa was rushed to the hospital for treatment and has since been discharged, though he has yet to return home due to fear of another attack.

The Ministry of Education confirmed the incident and stated that steps are being taken to safeguard the school during the remainder of the WASSCE. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible.

Efforts to reach the school principal for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
